MICHAEL Ward looked world’s away from his Top Boy character as she shot scenes for new movie Empire of the Light.
The 24-year-old, who stars as Jamie Tovell in the gritty Netflix drama, will appear alongside Olivia Colman and Colin Firth in the romance flick which starting filming last month.
Empire of the Light is described as a love story set in and around a cinema on the South Coast of England in the 1980s.
Michael looked the part as he was snapped in between scenes wearing a blazer and smart cropped trousers, finishing the outfit with black shoes.
While further details about Michael’s character in Empire of the Light are yet to be revealed, there’s no denying it’s a dramatically different look for Michael compared to drug dealer Jamie in Top Boy.
Michael recently opened up about his “mad journey” since booking the part of Jamie four years ago.

Revealing he reached out to show creator Ashley Walter’s to ask for an audition, Michael said: “[Walters] posted something about a casting, and I messaged him saying, ‘I’d love to be in Top Boy.’
“Obviously, he never saw it, but I was just trying to shoot my shot, and when I look back at that, all of those things just fall under manifestation.”
Michael also confessed that, while he and Jamie live very different lives, they do share some similarities.
He added to British GQ: “Jamie’s hungry, I’ve always had that hunger.
“Jamie has all of these different sides to him, he moves differently with different people; that’s kind of how I am with my sisters, my mum, my bros and when I go to meetings.
“Jamie is manoeuvring through life and being adaptive so that he can manipulate a situation.”
Series four of the Netflix drama recently premiered and Michael later posted a sweet tribute to his co-stars on social media.
Sharing a series of behind-the-scenes shots, Michael wrote: “Made some memories that’ll last forever with some people I’ll never forget 
.”
