Top Gear viewers ‘switch off’ after just one episode of latest series – demanding BBC AXES show for good

TOP Gear viewers were forced to “switch off” after just one episode and have called for the BBC to axe the show.

Presenters Freddie Flintoff, Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris  returned for the 32nd series of the BBC motoring series.

Top Gear viewers have threatened to ‘switch off’ after just one episode

Harris sprained his ankle and completed the show on crutches

The new season featured a road trip to Florida to compete in some wacky races, Freddie bobsleighing in a Sinclair C5, and the lads putting their dream TV cop cars through their paces.

They got about in a gas-guzzling motorhome but got stuck in mud.

Then Harris sprained his ankle and completed the show on crutches.

However, viewers were not impressed by the new series and branded it old-fashioned.

One wrote: “#TopGear had gone massively downhill. Bring back Clarkson, Hammond and May to sort it out.”

Another posted: “#TopGear flogging a dead horse! It’s all been done before and much better too!”

“#TopGear if you’re bored of Top gear, switch off and let those of us who do enjoy it, do just that,” an unhappy viewer said.

A fourth tweeted: “#TopGear afraid to say gone downhill massively last few years , unwatchable now..shame really, nothing to do with cars anymore, waste of license money!!”

Someone else fumed: “#TopGear what childish rubbish now gone way down the pan much better with Jeremy Clarkson.”

“#TopGear is the worst example of BBC rehashed rubbish – still trading on the format from the Clarkson, Hammond, May years. Just another example of the dearth of talent and creativity at the BBC,” another viewer raged.

Another commented: “#topgear unfunny lads on a lads trip what happened to a car show – actually painfully terrible to watch and this is only episode 1. What a waste of license fees.”

But other fans were thrilled with the new instalment, with one writing: “Bloody love #TopGear. One footed Harris looked like he enjoyed that last race.”

Another posted: “Never took to these guys after replacing Clarkson & Co. I’ve never laughed so much watching these guys tonight. Well done Boys.”

A third added: “I absolutely love #TopGear What an amazing start to the new series. Them 3 just click together.”

Some fans have really taken to the trio since they first hosted together in 2018.

Some memorable moments include Paddy crashing a Lamborghini Diablo in Yorkshire in 2020.

And Freddie previously smashing into a market stall during filming in Mansfield in 2019 and crashing a motorised trike last year.

Fans of the series will be happy to know that Freddie will be a permanent fixture in the upcoming series.

Viewers were left disappointed after the former cricketer was missing from the action during an episode last year, with some branding the show “rubbish” without him.

The former cricketer failed to make it out to Iceland to join his co-hosts Paddy and Chris for the ultimate off-road race up a volcano.

“Where’s Freddie? Its just not the same, I miss him,” one viewer wrote, as a second chimed in: “Top Gear is a bit s*** tonight without Freddie.”
