TRIGGER Point viewers have ripped into the ‘waste of time’ finale after a ‘dreadful and predictable’ bombing twist.
The six part ITV drama concluded last night, with Vicky McClure’s character Lana Washington finally figuring out who was behind the bomb threats of The Crusaders, a white supremacist group.
Despite her grief over her brother Billy, Lana was determined to find out who was responsible for his death and the answer proved to be close to home.
The culprit turned out to be Karl (Warren Brown), Lana’s lover, who revealed he was wearing a bomber vest while in a crowded room of MPs and police.
He then threatened the MP who he claimed had covered up the deaths of a number of British soldiers.
Karl was then shot by a police officer before Lana was able to stop the bomb from going off.
Despite the tense scenes, some viewers were left disappointed by the finale, having figured out the twist in earlier episodes.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “Was pretty obvious from the moment he appeared onscreen.”
Another added: “Saw that coming weeks ago, figured that was the red herring they were trying to get us to think and there would be better ending instead of the obvious.”
A third tweeted: “The script is dreadful & the outcome predictable.”
Meanwhile a fellow viewer shared: “Would have been a good 2-hour film, but it’s been a surprisingly dull and slow 6 week waste of time.”
However, other viewers loved the drama, with one writing: “Trigger Point was great. Edge of our seats each week.
“Roll on series 2. Slightly gutted it was him though. #TriggerPoint.”
Another added: “@Vicky_McClure played a blinder there, what a great series #TriggerPoint.”
