They faced Edinburgh in the penultimate match of the series

Their comments came as the university battled it out against Edinburgh during the penultimate match in the series.

The Reading team, who had a higher average age than their competitors, comprised of Jesudoss, Ounsley, Hutchinson and Bishop.

Yet it was the latter, a mathematics and psychology student, who got fans talking.

They took to Twitter to suggest the competitor from Slough, who wore a white, red and blue patterned sweatshirt, was not pulling her weight.

One joked: “Bishop should just bring a couple of ice packs for Hutchinson and Ounsley in the final. Those shoulders are going to need it from all that carrying.”

Another then quizzed: “Has Ms Bishop answered a single question since she joined?” as a third boldly continued: “University Challenge In the Final Reading need to replace Bishop.”

One then quizzed: “Is Bishop just making up the numbers?”

Another mused: “Is Bishop actually contributing anything here?” as a show fan joked: “Can Someone Please Check That Bishops Alive!!!!”

Yet one viewer did take the student’s side, and wrote: “And for those trolling Bishop….she might answer the question that wins Reading the Final.”

Yet Bishop’s individual performance did not stop the University of Reading winning the round with 145 points.
