Van Der Valk fans rip into ‘woke’ penultimate episode as they brand ITV show ‘completely ridiculous’

FANS of Van Der Valk have slammed the ITV show for being too “woke” in its penultimate episode.

Taking to Twitter to air their disappointment, one fan said: “No. Just no. “

They added: “Completely ridiculous scene with Van Der Valk’s love interest professing her love in a pub in front of everyone else when he’s in a work meeting.”

But they didn’t stop there as they continued: “Appears the writer was – like me – falling asleep and couldn’t wait for it to end. FFS.”

Meanwhile another said: “Cockney Dutchmen and ostentatiously woke storylines. And they haven’t even got the original theme tune. #vandervalk could have been great but it misses the target by a mile.”

But according to one fan, this episode is not the first time the ITV drama has attempted to be current in its character prortrayals.

Another Van Der Valk fan said: “Last week a monologue on gender identity, this week a story revolving around colonial restitution. Ffs #wokeshite #VanDerValk.”

But it seems the show’s fans have not been impressed for some time. Earlier this month, viewers deemed the show as “beyond bad” following the first episode of the third series.

One fan wrote: “VanDerValk really is miserably mediocre.”

A second said: “VanDerValk. Is it me or is the dialogue pretty terrible?”

“VanDerValk Utter rubbish, acting awful, script appalling, even the the extras are looking like they should be on a photo shoot with their perfectly pressed urban clobber. Surely there was space for this c*** on ITV4 in the afternoon?” commented a third.

In the remake, Hustle star Marc Warren took on the lead role of Simon “Piet” Van Der Valk.
