Ibinabo Jack, who portrays DC Jacqueline Williams on the show, recently shared her thoughts on how Vera's story could continue even after Brenda's exit.
During an appearance on BBC Breakfast, Ibinabo praised Brenda as a "formidable actress" and expressed disbelief that the show is coming to an end.
A Prequel in the Works?
When asked if Vera could continue without Brenda, Ibinabo suggested a prequel focusing on the early days of the character. The idea was met with excitement by show hosts Jon Kay and Sally Nugent.
With fans also proposing the idea of a spin-off series featuring Vera's sidekick, Joe Ashworth, taking over as the lead character, the future of the beloved show remains uncertain.
While some viewers hope to see Joe or Aiden leading the team in a new series, others speculate about Vera's retirement and the possibility of Joe taking on a more prominent role.
