Vernon Kay has defended wife Tess Daly after she was described as being ‘dull’
The telly star said his wife spends hours learning her and co-host Claudia Winkleman’s lines
He said: “Tess is the best person I have ever worked with.
“She’s unbelievable.
“I don’t think people realise the hard work she puts in.
“She learns her script, she learns Claudia’s script, she learns the camera’s script, because it’s the flagship show for the BBC.”
Vernon’s support comes after catty Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood, 57, laid into Tess, branding her dull in 2018.
But classy Tess took the remarks in her stride saying at the time: “He’s just Craig being Craig, he didn’t mean anything malicious by it.”
Vernon added: “Nothing ever goes wrong on Strictly, since the year it started I think there has been one technical issue because one of the BBC regions had a power cut and Tess had to apologise and explain, apart from a few costume malfunctions that’s it.
“As far as the production goes I think they do a sterling job. It’s like boarding a plane and trusting that the pilot will guide you across the Atlantic, you know that when you tune into Strictly Tess and Claudia are going to hold your hand and guide you through proceedings, especially because it’s such a long show.
“They’re there all day and then when the show finishes they have to do the results.”
Vernon makes his panto debut in Cinderella next month, as comic servant Dandini in two shows a day at Wycombe Swan Theatre, Bucks.
