Walk The Line viewers ‘switch off’ as they brand new ITV game show a ‘Poundland version of X Factor’

SIMON Cowell’s new show Walk The Line premiered on Sunday night – but viewers soon switched off, with many dubbing it as the “Poundland version of The X Factor”.

Hosted by Maya Jama, the ITV show sees bands and solo acts perform in front of a star-studded panel of judges, hoping to walk away with an eye-watering prize of £500,000.

But viewers soon switched off, with many dubbing it as the ‘Poundland version of The X Factor’

Craig David, Alesha Dixon, Dawn French and former X Factor star Gary Barlow, made up the judging team, offering their expert opinions to the hopeful singers.

A small minority of viewers were delighted with the show, while a damning majority dubbed the new TV creation a “Poundland X Factor.”

The brand new format sees the top two performers each evening face a decision whether to walk away from the competition with £10,000 – or ‘Walk The Line’ and compete again on the next show.

Following the official axe of The X Factor earlier this year, some viewers were “delighted” to see a similar show back on our screens once again.

However, many viewers were critical and took to Twitter to air their thoughts – and they didn’t hold back.

One disgruntled viewer tweeted: “This is, quite simply, a Poundland version of the X Factor.”

Echoing their sentiments, someone said: “I didn’t know Poundland did versions of the X Factor.”

Meanwhile, a third scathing critic penned: “If you hate music and want a show where the format makes no sense and the judges don’t do anything, then Walk The Line is probably what you’re looking for.”

Some viewers credited presenter Maya with keeping them interested in the new show.

The longer the hopeful acts remain in the contest, the bigger the prize pot.

Each night, the reigning champion will be tempted by an even higher cash-out prize, as they debate whether to walk away from the competition.

Walk The Line airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV.
