LOVE Island stars Faye Winter and Teddy Soares have opened up about the vile abuse they receive from online trolls – with much of it aimed at them being an interracial couple.
The couple, who came third during last year’s series of the ITV2 reality show, confessed that the comments have left them in tears and that Faye, 26, even took a recent social media break to escape them.
Faye said: “There’s been a lot of opinions based on mine and Teddy’s relationship with Teddy being a mixed raced male and dating outside of his race with a white woman that’s been really hard to deal with.
“There are comments aimed at us being an interracial couple.”
Teddy, 26, insisted that he tries to stay strong for Faye but admitted that recently the abuse made him cry.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, Teddy said: “Last week was one of the only times where I’ve been really angry and upset about social media.
“When Faye is upset, I know I have to keep myself calm and re-centre myself as quickly as I can to support her as well.”
Discussing her recent break from social media, Faye added: “Last week I came off social media and re-centred myself and went down to Devon, and Teddy came.
“I also just remind myself the people I truly care about support us. Our cultures, our colours and our races have nothing to do with how they feel about us and how our relationship is seen to them.”
She added: “It’s not nice phrases to see and it’s heartbreaking how people still have these perceptions and views.”
Despite the vile trolling, Faye and Teddy have been focusing on the positive aspects of being in the public eye.
Three months after leaving the Love Island villa they were able to move into a stunning home together and they were quick to give their loyal fans a look around.
And in November Faye landed a huge deal with hair brand Razzl Dazzl, with The Celeb Report exclusively revealing the collaboration had netted her a cool six-figure salary.
