What happened to Katy Armstrong on Corrie?
Katy Armstrong was portrayed by actress Georgia May Foote and she first appeared in Weatherfield in July, 2010, before leaving five years later.
The character was Chesney Brown’s (Sam Aston) first real love as the pair met when her sister Izzy (Cherylee Houston) invited him to her 16th birthday party.
After immediately striking a chord, the pair attended Hayley and Roy Cropper’s wedding and Katy moved in to the builder’s yard flat with her father Owen shortly after.
But while Katy and Chesney grew closer, Owen (Ian Puleston-Davies) fought tooth and nail to keep them apart, failing to realise his overprotectiveness actually brought them together.
Despite the conflict, and with Ches’ sister Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) refusing to allow Katy into her own home, Owen eventually relented and allowed the lovebirds to stay with him at No.5.
In March, 2011, Katy and Chesney moved out and into 14a Victoria Street, although Owen tried to sabotage their plans.
Izzy then took action by signing on the flat on their behalf, allowing them to move in properly.
Unfortunately, they developed money woes quickly after, prompting Katy to want to get a job straight after her GCSEs but both Chesney and Owen disapproved.
The young couple decided to build a family together and, in December, 2011, they welcomed a son named Joseph.
However, Katy grew bored with the drudgery of life with Chesney, which led to her embarking on an affair with Prima Doner boss Ryan Connor.
Heartbroken, Chesney ended things with Katy and she retained custody of little Joseph.
Katy’s relationship with Ryan was brief and she later became a receptionist at V Court Fitness but her routine was turned upside down when her mother Linda re-surfaced in 2015.
Both Katy and her sister Izzy found out that their father Owen had been preventing her from contacting them since they were little, while the pair thought she’d abandoned them.
Katy reconciled with her mother accepted her invitation for her and Joseph to live with her at her villa in Portugal.
The mother and son duo left Weatherfield in 2015 – but their happiness in the sun was short-lived.
Katy died in a car accident off-screen in 2017, leading to Joseph moving back to the UK and living with his father Chesney.
