A tragic timeline
In just four years, Nella Rose experienced the devastating loss of both her parents. In 2016, she shared with her fans that her mother, Eseho Omolongo, had passed away. While the cause of her mother's death remains undisclosed, Nella revealed that her mother had been ill for a significant period of time.
Following her mother's passing, Nella faced further hardships, losing her council flat where she lived with her brother. She then found herself "sofa-surfing" while putting herself through university before eventually finding her own place.
Alone in the world
Nella Rose expressed her feelings of isolation and longing for her mother's presence in a YouTube video in 2018. She explained, "I didn't want this to be my life. I wanted to live with my mum until I was 25. I was forced to let go of that. All my friends, when they left Uni, they got to go back to their parents and get cooked meals, save so much money... I had to basically be alone for the rest of my life until I get married."
Unfortunately, the hardships didn't end there. In 2020, Nella's father, Kamango Paul Hollela, also passed away. Sharing her resilience on TikTok, she said, "When you're an immigrant, have been homeless, lost both parents, family have disowned you, constantly body shamed, but God continues to bless you."
A heart that won't heal
On YouTube, Nella Rose bravely opened up about her mother's sudden passing in 2019. Reflecting on the tragedy, she said, "It is the worst thing that happened in my life. I will never get over it. I have learned to deal with it, but I do not see myself healing from it anytime soon."
After her father's passing, Nella paid tribute to him on social media, expressing her grief and determination to make him proud in the years to come.
A family bond
Nella Rose has one sibling, an older brother whose name remains unknown. She fondly remembered their close relationship with their late mother, saying, "Me, my mum, and my brother used to be the three musketeers. Sometimes life is so unfair."
A dream realized
Before entering the I'm A Celebrity jungle, Nella shared her excitement about participating in the show. Despite her family's initial laughter at the idea, she explained, "I've been watching I'm A Celebrity ever since I was a child... It's so iconic, and it's why I said 'yes' immediately."
