When is Lucan on ITV?

The first episode of the two-part drama written by Jeff Pope airs on ITV next Wednesday August 4th at 9pm.

The show was originally released on ITV in December 2013 and currently has a 6.9/10 rating on IMBD.

What is Lucan about?

In 1974, Lord Lucan (Rory Kinnear) amasses too many gambling debts and, as his marriage begins to implode, becomes obsessed with recovering the custody of his children.

With the backing of the sinister John Aspinall (Christopher Eccleston), he attempts to undermine the sanity of his wife Lady Veronica Lucan (Catherine McCormack) to gain custody rights after their divorce, but does not succeed.

Then one cold November night, the Lucan family’s nanny Sandra Rivett (Leanne Best) is found brutally murdered in the basement of their house on Lower Belgrave Street and Lucan is never heard from again.

That same night, a bleeding Lady Veronica Lucan runs into a nearby pub shouting that she needs help after escaping the murderer who killed their nanny.

While Lucan is found guilty of the crime in his absence, several questions still remain. Why was Sandra Rivett murdered? And is it possible that Lady Veronica Lucan had been the intended victim that fateful night?

The high-profile cast includes Christopher Eccleston, Rory Kinnear, Catherine McCormack, Michael Gambon, Alistair Petrie, Paul Freeman, Rupert Evans, Gemma Jones and Leanne Best.

The series has also previously attracted controversy, with the son of Lord Lucan’s alleged murder victim criticising ITV of “profiting” from his mother’s death, according to the BBC.
