MARVEL fans have been desperate to watch the new Marvel creation WandaVision on Disney+.
But as enjoyable as the first two episodes have been, many have been left wondering how exactly the show fits in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’ve got the answers…
When is WandaVision set?
Fans have been confused after WandaVision appeared to be set in the 20th century.
According to the MCU timeline, WandaVision should be set in the future – around 2023.
In actual fact, the new series will hop across the decades. The first two episodes are set in the 1950s and 60s and are aired in black and white.
But Wanda and Vision won’t stay in the 60s for long, as the series will move into colour in later episodes.
Every 30-minute episode will be a play on a vintage US sitcom.
How does WandaVision fit into the MCU timeline?
WandaVision follows Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen and Vision, Paul Bettany, as they navigate a middle-class suburban lifestyle in the town of Westview, trying to hide their superpowers from their neighbours.
Fans have been left confused by the timeline of the show as it seems the characters have gone back in time.
But observant MCU fanatics have considered the possibility that WandaVision could be an interpretation of the “House of M” storyline from the comic books, in which the action is actually just an imagined reality by Wanda to cope with the death of her children.
Or, some have speculated that Wanda and Vision have been purposefully trapped in a fake reality by an evil antagonist – and some suspect that the pair will have to escape the simulation.
Is WandaVision set after Avengers: Endgame?
In short, yes, WandaVision is set after Avengers: Endgame.
That may come as a shock to fans, given the presence of Vision, who was killed in Avengers: Infinity War and did not resurrect with the rest of the heroes at the end of Endgame.
Of course, it’s not out of the question that Vision has been brought back from the dead – but we’ll have to wait and see what happens in series.
The last time we saw Wanda was as she comforted Clint at Tony Stark’s funeral.
So there’s a lot of action to catch up on – but we’re sure Marvel will do it justice.
