When will Anne Robinson take over as Countdown host?

It was revealed back in February 2021 that veteran TV presenter Anne would be the new host of Countdown.

You can catch her from June 28, 2021 at 2.10pm on Channel 4.

She joins Countdown legends Rachel Riley and Susie Dent, who have remained part of the show’s line-up.

On her new all-female team, Anne told Channel 4: “Three Girls Do Countdown – who wouldn’t want to watch?”

Who are the previous Countdown hosts?

Anne is now the sixth person to host Countdown.

She replaces Nick Hewer who quit the show in December 2020 after fronting the teatime programme for just under a decade from 2012 to 2021.

But before them were:

  • Richard Whiteley (1982–2005)
  • Des Lynam (2005–2006)
  • Des O’Connor (2007–2008)
  • Jeff Stelling (2009–2011)

What else has Anne Robinson presented?

Anne started out as a panellist on Question Time in the 1980s and presented TV review show Points Of View.

Then in 1993 she became the writer and presenter of consumer affairs show Watchdog, which remains popular to this day.

But in 2000 she became a household name when she began presenting tough quiz show The Weakest Link which was on TV for ten years.

How can I watch Countdown?

Countdown airs every weekday at 2.10pm on Channel 4.

It was the first programme to broadcast on Channel 4, when the channel launched 39 years ago, in November 1982, making it one of the longest running quiz shows in the world.
