When will Good Omens season 2 be released?

GOOD Omens is back for a second season, a year on from the release of the first installment.

David Tennant, 50, and Michael Sheen, 52, will reunite to bring the adaptation of of the 1990 novel of the same name to life once again.

It is currently unknown when Good Omens season two will hit screens.

A TV insider said: “The novel and the show gained a real cult following, so devotees will be thrilled to learn about this sequel.

“Although the first series covered the entire Good Omens book, the creators will continue the plot well beyond the story originally penned by Sir Terry.

“But it’s a technique that’s well used in TV and has proved immensely popular in the past, so long as the creators manage to continue the spirit of the original.”

Who will star in season 2 of Good Omens?

David Tennant and Michael Sheen will star in the new series, however it is unknown who will be joining them.

When speaking about his character and the show, Michael gushed: “I love the character and I love the world of it. It’s very enjoyable working with David and the rest of the team.”

The likes of Line of Duty and Motherland star Anna Maxwell Martin starred in series one as Beelzebub, the leader of the forces of Hell.

What could happen in season 2?

With the two heroes (and their friendship) surviving Season 1, there’s a more or less blank slate on which to project the events of Season 2.

Executive producer Gaiman had plotted a sequel with author Terry Pratchett which focused on where the angels came from.

Therefore it is likely it may revolve around some sort of origin story.

Back in 2017, the Good Omen’s showrunner told RadioTimes.com, “Terry and I also plotted a sequel to Good Omens that we never did.

“It was about where the angels actually came from, which is why it was pretty easy to add extra angels [including Jon Hamm’s Gabriel] to this.”

What happened in season 1 of Good Omens?

Set in 2018, the series follows the demon Crowley (David Tennant) and the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen), longtime acquaintances who, having grown accustomed to life on Earth as representatives of Heaven and Hell.

They seek to prevent the coming of the Antichrist and with it Armageddon, the final battle between Heaven and Hell.

In the finale, both Aziraphale and Crowley were charged with treason by their respective supernatural superiors for their actions.

Aziraphale was sentenced to destruction by hellfire, while Crowley was meant to vaporize himself via holy water.

After serving their punishments, Heaven and Hell, agree to let them continue living out their lives on Earth, where it’s revealed that they had swapped appearances so that their punishments no longer suited.
