The Great British Bake Off is back for another series

Where was the Great British Bake Off 2021 filmed?

Filming for The Great British Bake Off now takes place at the location of Down Hall Hotel in Essex.

It was previously filmed in the grounds of Welford Park hotel in Berkshire.

Production took place in July and due to the coronavirus and the restrictions in place, the process was not as relaxed as normal.

Before filming, the cast and crew were told to self-isolate for nine days and had to take three COVID-19 tests before being allowed entry into the hotel.

They then had their own social bubble for seven weeks during the competition.

The filming location has changed to Down Hall Hotel in Essex

How long did the contestants stay at Down Hall Hotel & Spa?

The Bake Off contestants spent six weeks in the hotel, which was empty due to the coronavirus.

In usual circumstances, Bake Off contestants film episodes at the weekends.

But the new series was shot two days on and two days off as part of a new schedule and to work around the coronavirus restrictions.

Contestants had to take three coronavirus tests before entering the hotel

The cast were allowed to bring their partners and children to stay with them at the hotel while they were filming.

Contestants were also tested for coronavirus during filming to make sure that everyone stayed safe.

Why was the Bake Off tent location moved?

Bosses decided to move the tent to allow cast and crew to isolate with each other before filming began and enabled them to create a COVID safe bubble.

A spokesperson told Berkshire Live: “It has been well documented that the series was filmed in a covid-secure bubble this year, and the venue allowed for that.”

Channel 4’s Kelly Webb-Lamb added: “In terms of what actually went on in the tent, the challenges that they did, the amount of time they had to prepare, those things were the same as they always are.

“So it’s been an incredible feat from Love to pull that off.”
