Kay Burley, the familiar face on Sky News, was notably missing from her usual hosting duties today (September 1, 2023).
Twitter frenzy
Fans of the show took to Twitter to express their confusion and speculate on the reason behind Kay Burley's absence.
Well-deserved break
However, there is no need to worry, as it turns out that Kay Burley is simply on holiday.
She is currently staying at the Clinic Buchinger Wilhelmi, a health retreat where she is practicing fasting.
The fasting experience
Kay Burley shared with her Instagram followers that she has given up food for 10 days and is now gradually reintroducing a small calorie intake.
Meet the replacement
In the meantime, viewers can catch Jayne Seckler, who is filling in for Kay Burley on the show.
When to catch the Kay Burley show
Kay Burley has been a presenter on Sky News since 2018, initially in the afternoon news slot and then transitioning to the breakfast show in 2019.
You can usually tune in to watch her on weekdays from 7am until 10am.
A previous absence
This is not the first time Kay Burley has been off air. In June 2021, she returned to Sky News after serving a six-month suspension for breaking lockdown rules.
She apologized for inadvertently violating the restrictions to celebrate her birthday in London.
Due to her unawareness of the tier two status in London, Kay voluntarily stepped back from her position and pledged to take six months off to reflect.
Her colleagues at Sky News, Beth Rigby and Inzamam Rashid, who also attended the party, took three months off as well.
Kay expressed her deep regret over the incident and apologized to her fellow employees in a statement.
