THE year has just got better for cooking show aficionados as MasterChef: The Professionals continues on our screens.
Fans were worried that the hit cooking competition would be interrupted due to the pandemic, but Marcus Wareing, Monica Galetti and Gregg Wallace are firmly back in the MasterChef kitchen.
Where was MasterChef: The Professionals filmed?
3 Mills Studios
MasterChef: The Professionals is filmed at 3 Mills Studios.
3 Mills Studios is an iconic British filming location in East London.
With nine filming stages, 11 theatre spaces and over 75,000 sq. ft. of filming space, it has been used for countless films and TV shows.
As well as being the home to the kitchens for all of the MasterChef franchises, it has provided the filming location for Hell’s Kitchen, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Killing Eve season two, Our Girl and The Third Day.
From 2005-2011, MasterChef was filmed at City University’s Halls of Residence on Bastwick Street in London.
For the following three years, filming moved to the Ram Brewery in Wandsworth, before finding a home at 3 Mills in 2014.
Filming for this series of the show kicked off back in July, despite all the complications that coronavirus posed to the TV industry.
In July 2020, a MasterChef spokeswoman said : “We are ensuring that all Covid-19 filming protocols are being adhered to as set out in industry-wide filming guidelines published last week.”
Gregg explained how this year has been different with social distancing rules in force: “Me, Marcus and Monica used to elbow each other out the way round the plate, now we go up like a buffet and we take a bit out of each plate.
“The chefs cook, then with clean cutlery we take a bit off and then take it away. Slightly different but not majorly different.”
Filming of the show has now wrapped up, and contestants are sworn to secrecy about who the champion is.
