The presenter is live on the Weather Channel today (Wednesday, September 28, 2022) in southwest Florida to report on Hurricane Ian.

At 6.52am he tweeted: “#ian now at 155mph trying it’s best to become a cat5! This will be one of the strongest hurricanes in southwest Florida history.”

He is on the move at all times. but has been spotted in Punta Gorda.

Who is Jim Cantore?

Jim is a veteran of numerous major storms on the Gulf Coast and is known to take the most dangerous post as the storm nears.

He is a 57-year-old meteorologist.

Jim graduated from Lyndon State College in 1986.

The Weather Channel gave him his first job out of college in July of that year and he has worked there ever since.

Jim has since become one of the most well-known meteorologists on television.

What do we know about Hurricane Ian?

On September 28, 2022 after wreaking havoc on Cuba, millions of Americans are now on high alert as Hurricane Ian moves towards Florida and threatens to upgrade itself to Category Four.

Ian is set to gain significant strength as it passes over the warm Gulf of Mexico, reaching top gales of 130mph.

The National Hurricane Center has warned of flooding and harsh winds as the “extremely dangerous major hurricane” approaches the west coast of Florida.

Governor Ron DeSantis warned on Tuesday night (September 27, 2022) it will bring “catastrophic” and “life-threatening” damage along with it.
