BBC’s A Question of Sport gets a new line-up ahead of its 51st instalment.
The show’s newest captains have been revealed along Sue Barker‘s replacement.
Who are the new captains on A Question of Sport?
Two new captains will be joining A Question of Sport for the quiz show’s 51st series.
Hockey star Sam Quek will be the programme’s newest recruit alongside rugby player Ugo Monye.
Both men will take over rugby union player Matt Dawson and cricketer Phil Tufnell.
Matt had been a part of the show since 2004 while Phil joined A Question of Sport back in 2008. They took part in the 50th season, which aired on 5 June, 2020, until last May.
Who is the new host of A Question of Sport?
Curtain call for Sue Barker as the host is leaving her spot to a new presenter.
Sue had taken over David Coleman, the show’s third historical host, back in 1997.
After 24 years, Sue became a highly familiar face for the programme’s fans.
But for the show’s next season, she will make way for Top Gear’s Paddy McGuinness.
An “honour” for the former Take Me Out host, as he told The Mirror.
“I love the fiercely competitive nature of sports stars coupled with having a laugh”, said Paddy.
“That’s why A Question of Sport has always been one of my favourite shows and having been weaned on it from an early age, this is an honour and opportunity I’m certainly not taking lightly.”
BBC’s director of entertainment Kate Philips explained: “Paddy will be a great host, bringing his own wit and warmth to a very important role.”
When is the new series on TV?
An air date has yet to be announced for A Question of Sport’s next season.
The new host and captains are set to begin filming during the course of the summer.
The revamped version of the programme will supposedly be airing on BBC One, as it has done for the past five decades and since its first ever episode in 1970.
