Who is Dancing On Ice professional Karina Manta?

KARINA Manta is a new face on the Dancing On Ice rink for the upcoming series.

Karina will be stepping, or should we say skating, in for DOI pro Yebin Mok after she was badly injured in rehearsals.

Who is Karina Manta?

Manta is a 24-year-old professional ice skater hailing from Olympia, Washington.

The young skater was partnered with Joe Johnson from 2013 onwards.

The pair have competed in Skate America, the US International Classic, US National Championships and the Midwestern Sectional Championships.

In 2018, Karina told her social media followers that she was bisexual.

Her partner Joe is gay, and the pair became the first openly queer team at the 2019 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

Karina said at the time: “I think this sport is making space for new approaches, new forms of art, new types of people,

“I like to think Joe and I are both trying to keep widening the space in our own ways, alongside so many teams who are pushing our art form in a hundred beautiful ways.”

The pair also performed with Cirque du Soleil in 2019.

As well as skating, Karina has had a successful writing career, penning articles for the New York Times.

She is writing a book about her own experiences as a professional skater and body image which is set to be published this year.

Karina will be dancing with Graham Bell for the first few weeks of the show, after a freak accident in training left Yebin injured when her partner’s skate stabbed her in the shin.

Who is Karina Manta dating?

At the same time as coming out, Karina revealed she had a girlfriend named Aleena.

The pair celebrated their three-year anniversary in August 2020.

It is not known what Aleena does for a living.

When does Dancing On Ice 2021 start?

The new series of Dancing On Ice begins on January 17.

Things will kick off at 6pm on ITV, with catch ups available on ITV Hub.

Due to the pandemic stars have had to form bubbles with their partners.
