Who is Duncan Boyd?

The actor first appeared in the BBC soap opera 34 years ago in 1987.

Duncan was the curate of the local church and eventually became involved with one of the show’s beloved characters Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean).

He also formed friendships with the likes of Lofty Holloway (Tom Watt) and devout Christian Dot Cotton (June Brown).

He left Albert Square in 1989 after being offered a new job at a parish in Wiltshire.

When did Duncan Boyd make his return to Eastenders and what happened to him?

Duncan is going to be back on our screens for a short appearance in April.

He will be reunited with his former flame Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), which will span over three episodes.

His return is set to cause trouble between Sharon and her new flame, Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) as he unknowingly officiates baby Albie’s christening.

Ducan will be shocked to learn Sharon is the mother of the little boy and their past romantic history will come to light.

In an Instagram post, the BBC said: “Although Duncan’s time in Walford is short-lived, his arrival is sure to ruffle feathers as his past romantic history with Sharon comes to light.”

What is his relationship with Sharon in EastEnders?

Sharon developed feelings for Duncan after she began going to the church because of her parents Den (Leslie Grantham) and Angie Watts’ (Anita Dobson) turbulent marriage.

Much to the shock of her parents, Sharon started a relationship with Ducan and the pair even got engaged.

However, Sharon called off the marriage when Duncan was offered a new job at a parish in Wiltshire.

Heartbroken Duncan repeatedly asked her to marry him several more times.

He finally accepted that their relationship was over and left Walford in 1989.

EastEnders airs Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 7.30 pm on BBC One.
