One person who has been chosen to be on the 2022 series of GBBO is Syabira.
Who is Great British Bake Off 2022 contestant Syabira?
Syabira, 32, hails from London and is a cardiovascular research Associate.
Malaysian-born Syabira is one of seven children.
She moved to the UK in 2013 to study for her PhD and is now happily settled in London with her boyfriend, Bradley.
She loves gaming and often spends evenings playing an online World War II simulation game, which she credits with teaching her about leadership in the real world.
Meet Great British Bake Off 2022 star Syabira
Syabira started baking in 2017 with a red velvet cake, which reminded her of the treats she shared with her friends back home.
She is all for giving Malaysian flavour twists to British classics – chicken rendang Cornish pasties are a particular favourite.

Syabira is an avid user of Instagram, and has just over 400 followers (as of September 2022), which is bound to be boosted by going on GBBO.
On her channel @syabira_bakes she shares lots of pictures of her impressive cakes and baking creations.

When is Great British Bake Off 2022 on TV?
The Great British Bake off kicks off Channel 4 TONIGHT (September 13, 2022) at 8pm.
The show will continue at this time on Tuesday nights.
The bakers will be tasked with their first signature, Technical and Showstopper challenges.
Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will choose the first Star Baker of season 13, while hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas will have the responsibility of revealing which contestant will be going home.
