Who is Germany’s Eurovision entry Malik Harris?

Malik Harris is a 24-year-old German singer.

He was born in Landsberg am Lech, Germary on August 27, 1997.

His father is Ricky Harris, a Germany-based American TV presenter and actor who was best known for his roles in Dope and Everybody Hates Chris.

Harris got into music when he was just 13-years-old making songs with his guitar.

He has over 1.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and is the first-ever German-American artist to spend over a week on a Times Square billboard in New York.

His first singles, Say The Name (2018) and Welcome to the Rumble (2019), were hits on the German airplay chart which led to a solo tour in May 2019.

The young star has supported international acts including James Blunt, Alex Clare, Jeremy Loops, Tom Odell and LP.

Harris will sing his song Rockstars at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.

He competed in Germany 12 Points to become the country’s representative for the contest.

On March 4, 2022, Harris was announced as the winner, taking the lead with an impressive margin of 23 points.

Has Germany ever won Eurovision Song Contest?

Germany has won Eurovision twice, in 1982 and 2010.

In 1982 Germany first won the contest in Harrogate with Nicole Seibert singing the song Ein bißchen Frieden (A Little Peace).

The second German victory came 28 years later at the 2010 contest in Oslo, when Lena Meyer-Landrut won with Satellite.

When is Eurovision 2022 and how to watch it?

There are two semi-finals before the grand final.

The first semi-final took place on Tuesday, May 10, at 8 pm.

The second semi-final will take place at the same time on Thursday, May 12 on BBC One.

The Eurovision final will kick off on Saturday, May 14, 2022.

The event will be broadcast live from 8 pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
