The Melbourne native is 57 years old and currently lives in London.

At 16 years old, John left school to attend catering college and after a decade of training, he moved to the UK in 1991, to work at a sous chef at Quaglino’s, working under restaurateur Sir Terence Conran, who he describes as a “genius”.
While working at Quaglino’s, John first met his fellow MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace, who was running a vegetable supply company.
Torode was appointed Member of the Order of the Britsh Empire in the 2022 Birthday Honours for services to food and charity.

John first met his wife Lisa Faulkner, famous for appearing on shows like EastEnders, Brookside and Holby City, in 2010.
Lisa was also a contestant and won Celebrity MasterChef.
When the show was filmed, Lisa was married to Eastenders actor Chris Coghill, with whom she has an eight-year-old adopted daughter Billie.
The pair divorced in April 2012 after a seven-year marriage, and six months later, Lisa went public with her relationship with John.
He had been married to wife Jessica since 2007, but the couple split in 2011.
Since they got together they have frequently appeared alongside each other on cooking segments for morning TV.
On January 7, 2019, Lisa revealed John had asked her to marry him on Christmas Day 2018.

“It’s been nearly 20 years and I knew him 10 years before this, so we’ve known each other 30 years.”
John added: “We’ve done 10 years not 19 series, so we are up to nearly 40 series, then you put professional on top of that and juniors, 19 years on TV, we feel lucky.”
