Kate Garraway revealed to her former Good Morning Britain colleague that she hadn’t always had the best luck with men before meeting her husband.

The 54-year-old told Piers that she had “always been dumped” and had never ended a relationship herself.

Kate didn’t give away a number, but – when prompted – explained that she was in “double figures”, when it came to men ending things with her.

Despite her willingness to chat about her past dating life, Kate was tight lipped when it came to the identity of one former beau.

In her memoir Kate had cryptically referenced dating a famous face, but wasn’t keen to chat about it when prodded by Piers.

“I’m not talking about it,” Kate insisted, adamant that she wouldn’t be revealing the star’s identity.

So unfortunately, it looks like it will remain a mystery – at least for now.

Kate also discussed her husband Derek in some detail on the show, delving into his difficult two year battle with Covid-19 that has left him with permanent organ damage.

The pair have been married since September 2005 and share two children – Darcy, 15 and 11-year-old Billy.

Kate explained to Piers that inflammation had passed through Derek’s brain and that Covid had “devastated him”, leaving Derek needing around the clock professional care.

“Fundamentally, he’s in a terrible state,” she said. “Look, he’s alive, Piers.”

“He’s fought so hard to stay in this world and I’m not giving up on him ever,” the presenter added.

“He will have moments of clarity and it’s like he disappears again.”
