Who is Steve Doocy’s wife Kathy Gerrity?

FANS of Steve Doocy likely know a lot about the Fox & Friends anchor, and may even know that he once wrote a book about his marriage.

But they might not be as aware of Steve’s wife, Kathy Gerrity. What do we know about the long-time spouse of the Fox News Channel host?

Who is Steve Doocy’s wife, Kathy Gerrity?

Steve met his wife Kathy while they were both working at WRC-TV in Washington D.C., according to Heavy. 

He started his career there after earning a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Kansas. She was working in the sports department, according to a 1989 Washington Post profile.

That profile also noted that Kathy was a former model and had her own ESPN show.

When did Steve Doocy and Kathy Gerrity get married?

Steve has been married to Kathy since June 30, 1986, according to IMDB.

In 2007, Doocy published his first book, The Mr. And Mrs. Happy Handbook, about their marriage. 

“Ultimately I wrote this book because I love my wife,” Steve once told the Christian Broadcasting Network.

Steve actually talked his wife into joining an online dating service to prove their love, but it reportedly didn’t go exactly as planned.

“I wanted a computer to mathematically prove that we were 100 percent a perfect couple,” he told CBN. But he didn’t make the “Top 500” matches of local men on Kathy’s list. Whoops!

He also spoke about their approach to disagreements.

“I have a new relaxed approach to arguing,” he explained to CBN.

“In the beginning, I just make sure that my wife hears what I have to say. So I’ll say it a couple of times. If she doesn’t bite, I don’t jam it down her throat.”

He also said compromise is key.

“Rock the boat and try to prove you’re right, or go for the smooth cruise and wind up a happier person,” Steve said.

Do Steve and Kathy have children?

Steve and Kathy share three children together. 

They have one son, Peter, and two daughters: Sally and Mary. 

Fun fact: Peter Doocy followed in his father’s footsteps and also works at Fox News as a reporter! He is a White House correspondent. 

Peter also gave his mom a daugher-in-law when he married Hillary Vaughn in April.

What is the 4-H club?

Steve is a part of something he calls the 4-H Club, and it is entirely about his marriage to Kathy.

The four H’s are honesty, handling, humor and handcuffs.

He told CBN the honesty is because liars always get caught, and handling has to do with solving problems quickly.

Humor is pretty self-explanatory, and just means that humor is important.

Finally, handcuffs is because “once you handcuff yourself to someone, be ready to throw the key away forever.”

What does Kathy do?

These days, it seems Kathy is mostly devoted to being a wife and mom. 

She and Steve live in Wyckoff, New Jersey, according to Wikipedia, which keeps her husband’s commute for work pretty short. Their two daughters have also worked in politics and news.

At least according to Steve’s glowing Instagram posts, their marriage seems to be going strong!
