BAKE Off judge Prue Leith left Wants To Be A Millionaire? viewers screaming at the TV after losing £48,000 on an “easy” question about the Titanic.
The 80-year-old was in with a chance of winning £64,000 after rattling through host Jeremy Clarkson’s questions on the celebrity edition of the show.
But when she was asked “which of these senior crew members on RMS Titanic survived the sinking?” Prue came unstuck.
She used the 50/50 option – and seconds later answered confidently: “It’s Captain Edwards Smith.
But Prue made the wrong guess – and it was in fact 2nd Officer Charles Lightoller.
“That’s a bit of a disaster really,” said Jeremy, as Prue’s charity donation plunged back down to £16,000.
“Let’s look on the bright side. You are going away with £16,000.”
Viewers were left shocked that Prue failed to get the question right – despite saying she had watched the film.
One said: “Titanic question on #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire and I’m shouting the answer at Prue.”
“The captain survived the Titanic…really @PrueLeith??”, said a fan.
Another added: “Can’t believe that Pru said the Captain of the Titanic survived!!! I thought that was astonishingly easy as 50/50’s go.”
Someone else said: “Prue Leith had a titanic moment.”
A viewer added: “I thought everyone knew Captain Smith went down the Titanic.“
“Another ranted: Wtf Prue!! Has she not even watched Titanic bloody nora.”
