Reena Virk was just 14 years old when she was brutally murdered. Her gruesome death is now being portrayed in Hulu's Under The Bridge.
The Tragic Story of Reena Virk
Reena Virk went missing from Saanich in British Columbia when she was just in her early teens. Her father, Manjit Virk, emigrated to Canada from India. She had a troubled relationship with her parents and lived in a foster home at the time. According to reports, she had run away from home multiple times and falsely accused her father of sexual abuse so she could stay at a group home. However, she later recanted the statement and kept in touch with her parents.
The Events Leading to Reena Virk's Death
On November 14, 1997, Reena was invited to a party under the Gorge Waterway bridge by her friend Nicole Cook. A group of six other teenagers, later known as the Shoreline Six, attended the event. Reena was confronted at the party, leading to a tragic series of events where she was attacked and drowned by some of the attendees.
Warren Glowatski's Role in the Murder
Warren Glowatski, along with another individual, was accused of holding Reena's head underwater and contributing to her death. Glowatski denied the allegations, claiming he only kicked Reena and that the other person was responsible for drowning her. He was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for seven years.
