AFTER six seasons the NBC original series This Is Us is saying goodbye.
Now that This Is Us is ending many fans wonder why the creator is ending the popular show.
Why is This Is Us ending?
This Is Us show creator Dan Fogelman spoke to Newsweek about the ending of the show at a Television Critics Association event.
He shared with the outlet that the reason behind ending the show after six seasons is that he planned it this way.
“It’s not because we don’t have any more story to tell. It’s because we exactly planned it to go this way.
“And so we’re on a five‑year path, and to suddenly pivot and add more because we don’t want it to end, it wouldn’t be quite responsible to the show and what we have planned, and it would start becoming something else,” Fogelman said.

The series finale of This Is Us has been in the works for years the outlet reports.
Some of the scenes in the series finale were reportedly filmed as far back as four years ago.
Mandy Moore who plays Rebecca Pearson in the show spoke to Deadline about the previously filmed scenes.
“To be honest, a lot of what is in the finale for Milo [Ventimiglia] and I was filmed years ago. So, I don’t even remember what it was.”
Milo Ventimiglia portrays the character of Jack Pearson throughout the series.
Fogelman also spoke to Variety about where the focus of the series finale has always been.
“So much attention that was put on ‘How does Jack die?’ early on. How Jack dies and the big episode where, in fact, he does die.
“But so much of our series is about what happens after. And I always wanted and always had planned for the final episode of the series to revolve around the epilogue of the continuing story of the family rather than the moment [of Rebecca’s death],” Fogelman said.
When is the series finale of This Is Us?
This Is Us fans can tune in to the series finale on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.
The hour-long finale will air on the NBC network at 9pm ET.
Season 6 of the show consists of a total of 18 episodes which aired over a period of five months.
The first episode of the entire series first aired on September 20, 2016.
