Why is Victoria Derbyshire presenting BBC Breakfast today?
It was an unusual day for BBC Breakfast viewers as Victoria Derbyshire took over the show today on March 25, 2022.
The journalist was joined by former Breakfast star Ben Thompson.
From 2015 to 2020, Derbyshire hosted her own Bafta award-winning current affairs show on the BBC.
Since then, she has presented BBC News at 9 9am-11am on BBC Two, BBC News Channel and BBC World News.

She is regular step in on the BBC Breakfast show when the usual presenters are away.
During today’s show, Victoria and Ben interviewed Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.
During the interview, he said the Government “can’t directly” revoke P&O’s licence when he was asked about why the company was still operating after having broken the law.
His response was that he has instead asked the Maritime Coastguard Agency to carry out a “very detailed inspection”.
Who is Victoria Derbyshire replacing?
Derbyshire replaced Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty today (March 25) as both were absent from the show.
No explanation has been given for either of their absence, but as soon as we know, you’ll know.
The pair usually present the programme every Thursday- Saturday mornings from 6am until 9am.
From Monday to Wednesday the show is hosted by Dan Walker and Sally Nugent.
Charlie joined BBC Breakfast in 2006, initially as a relief presenter.
In January 2008, he became a weekend presenter for the morning show.
He then moved with the programme to Salford to where he is still there present day.

Naga has been absent from the breakfast show for the last two days.
While she has not addressed her reasons for her absent she responded to hate tweet on Twitter today stating that was not at work.
“Sally [the adresse] I’m not at work today. Maybe you should turn off your default setting of hate instead? Have a lovely day,” the tweet reads.
The BBC Breakfast presenter was last seen hosting the BIGGA Welcome Celebration on Tuesday evening (March 22).
