The actor played Stanford Blatch on the popular show and cinematic series

In the weeks leading up to his passing, the TV star was seen hard at work on set of the HBO cinematic revival, titled And Just Like That…, alongside his on-screen husband Mario Cantone on August 2.

In the photos, Willie was first seen heading back to his trailer clad in a navy blue top and light grey chinos as he sipped his morning tea.

The star was later pictured looking dapper in a black suit, white shirt, sunglasses and chiffon neck-tie as he walked to set to shoot his scene.

Days prior to his final shoot, Willie was pictured in one of his character Stanford Blatch’s signature flamboyant ensembles for a scene with Mario and Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays Blatch’s BFF Carrie Bradshaw, on July 23.

Prior to his appearance on set, Willie shared his excitement about the show’s cinematic reboot in June.

Speaking to Us Weekly, he said: “It didn’t hit me until I was in wardrobe yesterday and it was, like, literally stepping into the shoes again.

“It was great. I was just telling my friends… that I probably was wearing about $200,000 worth of clothing yesterday.

“And it was right away and it was like, ‘Oh, this is us, here we are.'”

After news broke of his death, Willie’s SATC castmates paid tribute to the star on social media.

TRIBUTES POUR IN

“My heart goes out to his son, @Nathen_Garson. Nathen, I hope you know how much he loved you and how proud he was to be your dad.”

Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones in the HBO series, wrote: “Such sad news and a terribly sad loss to the SATC family. Our condolences and RIP dear Willie xo”

LIFE ON SCREEN

The TV star had been battling cancer, according to TMZ sources, but this has yet to be confirmed.

The actor had starred on SATC in 27 episodes throughout the six seasons from 1998 until its series finale in 2004.

His character Stanford was a close friend of Carrie Bradshaw, who often struggled to overcome insecurities around dating in the big city.
