Jada's Revelation
Willow's post came after Jada Pinkett-Smith's interview with NBC host Hoda Kotb on the Today Show. During the interview, Jada discussed her memoir, Worthy, and revealed that she and Will had been living completely separate lives since 2016. Although they were not officially divorced, Jada confirmed that they were indeed apart. The couple, who married in 1997, have two children together, Willow and Jaden.
The Reason Behind the Separation
Jada explained that she and Will initially kept their separation private, as they were still figuring out how to navigate their partnership. She admitted that they were stuck in a fantasy of what they thought the other person should be. By 2016, they were exhausted from trying, leading to their decision to live separate lives. Despite their separation, they continued to make public appearances together.
August Alsina Romance
This revelation comes after Will and Jada's admission in 2020 that Jada had a romance with musician August Alsina while they were secretly separated in 2016. Jada described their current state as "still figuring it out" and emphasized the deep love they have for each other. She also praised her children for teaching her self-acceptance and unconditional love.
