Winterwatch team stumped by mysterious ball of hair stuck in tree as viewer begs for answers

THE Winterwatch team have been left stumped by a mysterious ball of hair stuck in a tree after a viewer begged for answers.

The BBC show has been airing live across multiple nights on the BBC since last week, and viewers regularly interact with the show and its hosts on Twitter.

The Winterwatch team seem to have been left stumped by a viewers pictue of a mysterious ball of hair in a tree

Many send in pictures of the nature and wildlife they have seen in their local area, with the presenters regularly replying and giving any answers that are required.

But one tweet appears to have stumped them all, after a viewer sent in multiple photos of an unusual ball of hair attached to a tree branch.

The viewer, called Lisa, wrote underneath a tweet posted by Winterwatch co-host Megan McCubbin: “I know it’s not an animal but I was just wondering if anyone knew what this was. Came across it today while out walking.”

When Megan or anyone else on the Winterwatch team failed to reply with an answer, a fellow Twitter user called Mary wrote back: “One hour and no answers ? C’mon Winterwatch team – please ?!”

The presenters are usually quick to answer viewers’ questions on social media

Mary then tweeted Lisa: “I’m no expert and it has a look of a coconut fat feeder; but that would be unusual to find hanging over a footpath. I really hope someone can shed a light on this.”

Lisa replied: “Me too, but no one seems to know or is not replying.”

Last week, viewers were left ‘giggling like schoolchildren’ during an innuendo-filled beaver discussion.

Presenting live from the Cornwall Beaver Project on Wednesday’s Winterwatch 2021, Gillian Burke updated viewers on a family of beavers at the project.

While many viewers marvelled at the incredible work of the beavers, many couldn’t help but snigger at the potential for innuendos.

Beaver is a slang term for vagina and more viewers “giggled like school children” during the segment.

“Catching up on Winterwatch. Beaver (snigger), wet beaver (snigger snigger). I’m so childish,” wrote one Twitter user.

Another added: “Never thought this would be a sentence I’d say, but…I love beavers!!”

Winterwatch continues tonight at 8pm on BBC Two.
