A FORMER master at Prince William and Harry’s school has been accused of killing his mum.
Matthew Corry, 45, lived with mother Beatrice, 84, in her apartment at a converted grammar school.
Police at the scene on January 6 when Beatrice died
Police found her with head injuries which she later died from when they went to the address in Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire.
Corry spoke only to confirm his name during a brief hearing at Bristol Crown Court today after which he was remanded in custody, the Daily Mail reports.
David Pegg, a fellow member of a history group Mrs Corry led, said she “didn’t appear to be troubled by anything” when he saw her on January 3.
He added: “She was a lovely, selfless woman who did a lot of volunteering. Beatrice was extremely well-known.
“She had a wonderful apartment in the town and she was still very active considering her age.
“Before she took over from me as Chairman of the history group, she used to sort out the tea and coffee for everybody.”
Mrs Corry had volunteered at the Campden Home Nursing charity shop.
CEO Helen Makaritis said: “Beatrice was an incredible lady, she had so much energy and would regularly have completed a 5 mile walk before her shift in the shop.
“Described as a ‘force of nature’ by the shop team, she was always positive and never afraid to voice her opinion, a very intelligent lady who was knowledgeable about so many things.
“Never without a scarf or a twinkle in her eye, she was loved by us all.”
Matthew Corry was remanded in custody and the case was adjourned until next month.
Corry taught at Eton until 2008, when he moved on to a prep school in Oxford.
He is also believed to have taught at a boarding school in Cumbria and at Godolphin and Latymer, in West London.
The independent girls’ school in Hammersmith counts Boris Johnson’s wife Carrie Johnson, singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor and celebrity cook Nigella Lawson among its alumni.
Corry left his post as biology teacher at Godolphin and Latymer, where fees this academic year cost £24,708, in April 2020.
