King Charles keeps up tradition as he attends church in Scotland adorned in traditional Scottish attire, alongside Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and other royal family members.
Traditional Attire on Display
King Charles, Queen Camilla, and Princess Anne were all dressed in traditional Scottish tartan for their visit to Crathie Church at Balmoral.
Rishi Sunak, the Prime Minister, and his wife Akshata Murty also attended the service, with Rishi sporting a smart suit while his wife wore a stylish turquoise coat and a brown hat and stilettos.
The Continuation of a Tradition
It appears that King Charles is following in the footsteps of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth, as he continues to welcome the incumbent Prime Minister to Balmoral during the summer.
This tradition, which began under Queen Elizabeth, known as the Queen Mother, celebrates its anniversary this month, marking a year since her passing.
Balmoral Estate Holds Special Meaning
The royal family holds a deep affection for the 50,000-acre Balmoral estate, which was the Queen Mother's favorite residence.
It was at Balmoral where she spent her final days before her passing at the age of 96 on September 8 last year.
Showing Off the New Tartan
During the Braemar Gathering Highland games, King Charles showcased the newly designed King Charles III tartan.
The tartan, created by the Scottish Tartans Authority to commemorate his coronation, features shades of green, blue, and red.
Royal Company at Balmoral
King Charles has been joined by several members of the royal family at Balmoral this year, including Prince Andrew, Princess Kate, and Prince William.
Despite being in Europe for the Invictus Games, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not invited to the anniversary commemoration.
Controversies Surrounding the Sussexes
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex faced criticism for their actions during the Queen's declining health last summer.
They were accused of filming parts of their Netflix documentary while the Queen was unwell, and the series was released three months after her passing.
Nevertheless, the Sussexes are determined to mark the anniversary in their own way, if they are not included in the official plans.
While the royal family gathers at Balmoral to remember Queen Elizabeth, King Charles and Queen Camilla are expected to commemorate the anniversary in the company of their family on September 8.
