But Harry and Meghan’s plans went up in smoke when Her Majesty tragically died last month.
A Royal insider told The Celeb Report: “Next year 2023 was to be their reconciliation year.”
Another added: “They have always been careful to not criticise the monarch. They have always tried to be respectful to the Queen.
“But the Queen has now died and Charles and Camilla are the King and Queen.
“Clearly, this reconciliation attempt would never work if they have been critical of the new monarch, or both.”
It is unclear what the plans for reconciliation would have involved.
But the pair have recently cut ties with aggressive Hollywood PR outfit Sunshine Sachs – suggesting a clear change of tack.
The charm offensive would have followed the release of Harry’s memoirs – due out next month.
The bombshell memoir promises to tell an “accurate and wholly truthful” story of the Prince’s life.
And Harry added he was “excited for people to read a first-hand account of my life“.
The memoir is expected to unleash another volley of attacks and allegations on the Royal Family.
But The Celeb Report on Sunday reported Prince Harry is now “desperately making last-minute changes” to the £17m “explosive” memoir following his grandmother’s death.
Their carefully laid plans would have also begun in the wake of the couple’s new Netflix series – thought to come out in December.
Sources told The Celeb Report Harry and Meghan saw the book and docuseries as a way of attacking the royals one final time before trying to build bridges again.
Other insiders have noted that any public attack on the King could now be fatal for any reconciliation.
