MEGHAN Markle’s dad wants to sue her friends who revealed the existence of a letter she sent him after her wedding, it has been reported.

Thomas Markle is reportedly trying to sue his daughters friends

Thomas told the Sunday People: “I’m trying to get the names and I’ll take legal action.

“There were lies told about me, it’s defamation. The magazine might be liable too and the people who gave the information – but nobody seems to want to give up their names.”

It comes after Meghan, 39, won a high court privacy claim against the Mail on Sunday last month for printing extracts of her five-page letter to him.

The Duchess of Sussex had written a “heartfelt” letter to her dad after her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018.

But Thomas later handed it to the paper after pals of Meghan spoke about its contents to a magazine.

The piece was based on anonymous interviews with five of Meghan’s friends and was the first public reference to the letter.

Thomas, who vowed to give evidence against his daughter at a trial, said he gave the newspaper the letter after being enraged by the US magazine article.

The Duchess’ estranged dad, who lives in Rosarito, Mexico, had said in a witness statement he had been forced to act to defend himself, claiming the article was untrue and portrayed him as dishonest and cold-hearted.

It was ruled, however, that Meghan had a “reasonable expectation of privacy”.

And the Mail on Sunday was ordered to publish a front page apology to Meghan after her victory.

As part of the apology, the newspaper was ordered to write: “The court found that Associated Newspapers infringed her copyright by publishing extracts of her handwritten letter to her father in The Mail On Sunday and in MailOnline.”

Meanwhile on Thursday, Thomas Markle hand-delivered a letter to Oprah Winfrey – asking her to interview him about his relationship with his estranged daughter.

He is understood to have offered to tell his side of the story to Oprah, after her explosive interview with Meghan in which the Duchess spoke of her father’s “betrayal”.

A source told The Celeb Report: “Thomas delivered a letter to Oprah asking her to contact him so he could tell his side of the story.

“This was not a note to Meghan and Harry, it was meant for Oprah.

“Thomas watched the interview she did with them and feels he deserves a chance to have his say.”
