PRINCE Charles’ beloved Aston Martin is among the spectacular cars on display at this weekend’s royal motor show.

The 1969 DB6 Volante, gifted to HRH by the Queen for his 21st birthday, joins vintage Ferraris and a 119-year-old Panhard at Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace.

The glamorous event, a staple in any petrolhead’s calendar, brings together a selection of the rarest vehicles from around the world.

More than 70 jaw-dropping cars will be on display across the three days, from September 2 to 4, for a special celebration of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.

Among them will be an “effortlessly cool” Aston Martin in Seychelles Blue, belonging to the Prince of Wales.

The motor, modernised in 2008 to run on waste from the British wine and cheese industries, was a birthday present from his grandmother in 1969.

He once said he was “devoted” to the vehicle as it has provided him with “real pleasure and enjoyment” – but he did lend it to William and Kate for their wedding in 2011.

Also on display until Sunday is a Panhard et Levassor from 1903.

The horseless carriage features a licensed Daimler engine and is arguably the world’s first passenger car.

It will appear alongside several Rolls-Royce and Bentley classics, including the 1930 Speed 6 Blue Train Coupe which famously beat a train travelling from Canne to Calais along the Côte d’Azur in France.

But many will flock to Richmond, south west London, to see the “sensational selection” of vintage Ferraris.

The 1957 500 TRC is expected to be one of the biggest hits as what is widely accepted as the most beautiful completion car of all time.

But the 2022 Monza SP1 will likely also be a crowd-pleaser with its “contours that appear to be crafted by the wind”.

Other manufacturers at Concours of Elegance include Stanley, Bugatti, Mercedes-Benz, Lamborghini and Porsche.

A spokesperson for the event said: “These sensational cars, and many more will make up the 70-strong display of rare and spectacular Concours Cars at this September’s glamorous event.

“There will also be a live collector car auction by Gooding & Co.”
