Aston Villa trials eco-friendly packaging made from seaweed
Footie fans at Aston Villa are in for a sustainable treat as Prince William introduces packaging made from seaweed. The team is trialling the innovative boxes by Notpla, a company that won £1 million in Earthshot Prize funding last year. These seaweed cartons were also used at all European footie finals last season, demonstrating their potential to revolutionize packaging in the sports industry.
Prince William's role in making it happen
Prince William, who is the President of the Football Association, played a crucial role in bringing this eco-friendly packaging to Aston Villa. Notpla's co-CEO, Pierre Paslier, expressed his gratitude towards the Prince, stating, "He saw the potential at Villa Park and helped to make the deal happen." The Prince's involvement proved beneficial as stadiums consume a significant amount of this type of packaging. Thanks to his introduction, Notpla was able to establish relationships with catering companies, expanding their reach to numerous stadiums.
Earthshot Prize and William's upcoming trip
The introduction of seaweed packaging is just one of the many initiatives supported by Prince William's Earthshot Prize. As part of this global environmental prize, William and 15 finalists will be traveling to Singapore for the third Earthshot Prize on November 7. Five winners will each receive £1 million to fund their ideas that have the potential to help save the planet. Additionally, during his visit, Prince William will attend the United for Wildlife Global Summit.
Prince William's commitment to sustainability and his efforts to tackle environmental issues continue to inspire and make a positive impact.
