FANS of the royal family were sent into swoon overdrive by Princess Charlotte’s adorable gesture towards her older brother Prince George on a their first royal engagement in Cardiff on Sunday.

The children made their first official royal appearance on Sunday in Cardiff

Seven-year-old Princess Charlotte is known for her fun personality, as she’s been spotted pulling sweet faces and waving at photographers.

But on Sunday’s Welsh outing the royal darling showed her tender side as she took a small purple flower and gave it to her older brother Prince George, 8.

Despite her outgoing personality, the young princess may have been a bit tired and overwhelmed after an eventful jubilee weekend as she appeared more shy than usual.

She held hands with her mother Kate as they walked around the castle and only reached out to shake someone’s hand after encouragement from the Duchess.

Her brother Prince George was also reserved on the visit, ducking behind his father and clutching Prince William’s hand.

Body language expert Judi James explained that the trip demonstrated that the pair were learning how to present themselves like a royal.

Speaking to Mail Online, the expert said: “This is clearly a skill Kate excels in, but for small children the knack of faking facial expressions to be polite can be tricky, especially when they are in public and in front of the cameras.

“Both children seem to be trying their best though, even if their expressions do suggest some shyness behind the fledgling smiles.”

She also revealed that Prince William and Kate appeared to have relaxed a bit after a few tense-looking appearances over the long weekend.

She explained that they were now presenting themselves as more of a parental double-act supporting their two oldest children.

Young Prince Louis was absent on the Cardiff trip, but made a bit impression on the public when he appeared on Buckingham Palace’s balcony with his family and the Queen on Thursday.

Prince William, Kate and all three children have a busy schedule ahead meeting some of the acts taking part in more celebrations to honour the Queen.

This includes meeting iconic Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler, who was made an MBE last week for her services to music.
