Stacey Solomon transforms dull and dated wooden bathroom with £4 buys from Dunelm and Ikea

STACEY Solomon is the queen of quick makeovers on a budget and wanting to spruce up her family bathroom, before completely renovating it, she turned to bargain buys from Dunelm and Ikea.

The pregnant Loose Women star, 31, proved you don’t need to call in the professionals to give your bathroom a facelift, as she armed herself with paint and a sealer to freshen up the grout.

Stacey Solomon gave her family bathroom a mini transformation on a budget

Since moving into her new £1.2million home Pickle Cottage, Stacey has been tackling each room at a time, from her downstairs loo to son Rex’s bedroom and even the pool outside.

Posting to Instagram, Stacey revealed her latest transformation, as she snapped up budget items to freshen up her home’s dated family bathroom.

In a video shared to her story, she revealed what the bathroom looked like before, with its dark wooden cabinets framing the sink corner and dull-looking tiles on the walls.

While Stacey revealed plans to completely do up the bathroom – that includes a walk-in shower – in a year or two, the star explained she wanted to “jazz it up in the meantime” both “quickly and cheaply”.

She stocked up on bargain buys from Dunelm and Ikea to jazz up the sink corner

She said the idea came to her while she was sat on the loo, as she told her followers online: “So I was sitting on the toilet, as you do, just looking around thinking this will probably be one of the last rooms we decorate because it’s one of the least important before baby arrives.

“And then I thought, why don’t I just jazz it up or try and jazz it up quickly and cheaply for the meantime?”

She joked she had forced fiancé Joe Swash to take her out to get supplies and said: “Once I get something in my head, I just can’t not do it.”

Stacey decided to get rid of the bulky mirrored cabinet on the wall

She replaced it with a stylish black-framed mirror from Dunelm for £14

She used it to re-grout the tiles and instantly make them look as good as new

Tackling the sink corner first, Stacey covered the wood in a non-toxic wood black paint and removed the mirrored cabinet from the wall to replace with a flat, large black-framed mirror she had snapped up from Dunelm for £14.

Stocking up on Uni-bond sealer from Amazon, Stacey then freshened up the discoloured grout in between the tiles.

Sharing a thrifty tip with fellow DIY lovers, Stacey said she picked up her little bottle of sealer for £6, before revealing: “Only buy it once because the bigger tubes are only £4.

She also stocked up on matte black bathroom accessories from Dunelm, including a toilet roll holder and matching toilet brush

“So you can refill the little applicator one with the big tube and save lots.”

Stacey added an edge to the plain tiles on the floor with a woven monochrome rug from Dunelm that cost a bargain £4 and she dressed up the shelves by the sink with candles and fejka plants from Ikea for as little as £3 for a pack of three.

To do so, she headed to Dunelm to pick up some new accessories and stocked up on a monochrome rug for £4 and a large black-framed mirror for £14 (similar here).

In her haul, Stacey snapped up black bathroom accessories to add to its new look, including a black matte toilet roll holder (£10) and a matching toilet brush (£12).

She shared before and after photos and her mini transformation already had her bathroom looking much fresher and more modern than before.

“I’m so soo happy with it. For a bit of paint, a mirror, sealer and some fejkas it feels soooo much better (sic),” Stacey told fans.

Her little project comes after Stacey revealed that she is pregnant with her fourth child – her second with husband-to-be Joe.

The pair were due to get married in July, but have since decided to postpone their wedding as they want their unborn baby to be there on the day.

Meanwhile, Stacey recently showed off her living room’s incredible makeover after painting the wall in one afternoon.
