SUSANNA Reid defended Prince Harry’s decision to release an explosive tell-all memoir today on his life growing up in the royal family.
Harry announced the publishing deal for the book — timed for release in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee — last night.
It is set to be published in 2022 and has been billed as “an intimate and heartfelt memoir from one of the most fascinating and influential global figures of our time”.
Speaking on Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain, host Susanna, 50, said she supported the Duke of Sussex’s announcement to tell his life story in his own words.
She said: “I don’t think it’s unreasonable for Prince Harry to define the kind of privacy that he wants.
“He’s talked about how he found it really traumatic just constantly being covered by paps and the experience that his mother had and the way that tabloid newspapers have covered him.
“I think it’s a little disingenuous when people say,’“Oh well you wanted privacy and you went away and now you’re doing a book’, well, in their words he wants to tell his own truth. He wants to be in charge of his won story.”
Some viewers didn’t share the same opinion and accused Susanna of being “biased”.
One wrote on Twitter: “Susanna still trying to get an interview with Harry. It can be the only reason she keeps defending the privacy farce”.

A second raged: “The problem is most of ‘his own truth’ has proved to be far from the reality! Not bad for someone who wants to be out of the limelight.”
As a third said: “This stupid, trendy expression ‘own truth’ is totally cringeworthy.”
Senior royals were blindsided by the news Harry had been writing a sensational book in secret.
Harry delivered the announcement on the first day in 15 months that Clarence House announced Charles and Camilla were on a public engagement.
The Celeb Report broke the news to Clarence House aides while Charles was at a reception in Lostwithiel, Cornwall, at 6.30pm.
It was clear aides had no idea the book was being written or even being announced. One said simply: “Oh gosh.”
Prince Charles was said to have been “surprised”.
