Alan Sugar boldly claims his Amstrad products are superior to Apple’s groundbreaking smartphones

LORD Alan Sugar has boldly insisted his Amstrad inventions were better than the “Apple rubbish” on the market today.

The original entrepreneur maintains that – despite being a big beast with a terrifying demeanour – he’s certainly no dinosaur.

He insists they were not like ‘Apple rubbish’

He says his Amstrad products have lasted the test of time, whereas the likes of Apple create technology that barely lasts a season.

Lord Sugar said: “We made quality products. Not like this Apple rubbish where you have to change it every time they bring out a new number. My stuff lasted for ever.”

Speaking to Radio Times, he added: “I understand all this s*** – it hasn’t left me behind. Trust me, I’m on top of it.”

Lord Sugar was Knighted in the year 2000 and in 2009 became Baron Sugar of Clapton in the London Borough of Hackney.

He is now set to be worth £1.2billion.

Not bad for a lad who started off selling electricals out of the back of a van in London’s East End when he was a teenager.

Then when he turned 21 and setting up the company that would make him a millionaire – Amstrad.

An abbreviation of “Alan Michael Sugar Trading”, it helped fill our homes with computers, stereos, phones, faxes and other electrical goods like Sky set top boxes.

It’s fair to say the company, which had a huge profile and made millions, never quite got the respect for innovation it deserved, as Lord Sugar is keen to point out.

He said: “We made the first videophone at Amstrad called the E-mailer and everyone took the p*** out of it.

“I sold more than half a million pieces. It ran on an old BT copper line – if you’d have stuck that on a wired broadband, you’d have video conferencing right there. So we were ahead of the game.”

This Thursday, fans will be eagerly tuning into BBC One to catch the latest episode of The Apprentice.

Lord Sugar has been at the helm of the hugely popular show since its launch in 2005 and it is currently in its 17th series.

The 2023 batch of hopefuls are slowly being whittled down, with another hearing Lord Sugar’s famous words, “You’re fired!” this week.

Last Thursday, Leicestershire lass Denisha Kaur Bharj got the boot following the fan favourite ‘shopping’ task.

Items the candidates had to source and barter for included a gardening trugg, Sahrah Desert roses and a 1kg of asparagus – picked that same day.
