BBC Breakfast’s Jon Kay left fans stunned as he grimaced in a rare ‘miserable’ video outside the studio.

Jon, 53, is usually upbeat and cheerful when he’s on-screen from Monday to Wednesday each week.

But in a video posted on X – formerly Twitter – Jon looked positively miserable as he headed into the BBC Breakfast studios at Salford, Manchester.

With July being a washout for many parts of the UK, Jon highlighted how August wasn’t getting off to a better start.

The star grimaced as he made his way through the wind and rain and captioned the short video: “Will August finally bring us some sunshine? We’d love your soggy summer pics on #BBCBreakfast.

“The wetter and more miserable, the better. This is me arriving
@MediaCityUK.”

Jon was immediately flooded – excuse the pun – with replies, with one fan writing: “Thanks for battling in! I’m in Northern Ireland which is soggier than most of the UK. I moved here from Los Angeles – what was I thinking?!”

Another added: “Same here in Jersey. still, at least no wildfires unlike the situation in Europe.”

A third commented alongside a picture of the weather for the rest of the day: “Sorry @jonkay01 . It’s not looking promising.”

Thankfully Jon had dried out by the time he took to the air alongside Sally Nugent today.

The pair were also joined in the studio by weather presenter Carol Kirkwood.

Carol is often out on location or presenting from another studio, and Jon joked: “We can also verify that this is the real Carol Kirkwood, this is not somebody in a costume. This is the real thing!”

He then told her how nice it was to have her in the studio and she replied: “Lovely to be here as well, it really is!

“It’s always a pleasure, it’s always so lively, so nice. Instead of my room cupboard!”
