BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent left co-host Dan Walker red-faced this morning as she made a dig at him live on the show.
Dan, 45, has recently announced that he’ll be leaving the show later this year, and Sally addressed it during today’s broadcast.
On Monday Dan revealed that he’s moving to competitor Channel 5 News.
So as he and Sally woke up the nation on Wednesday morning, she took the opportunity to make a joke about it.
One segment saw the presenters discuss the recent changes in divorce laws, which will end the need for blame.
This means amicable divorces are soon to become a reality.
Sally saw her moment and took it, saying: “I like the idea of an amicable divorce, Dan.”
To which he replied: “Awkward” after a pause.
However, he then added: “I’m still here for a few weeks, don’t worry.”
Dan will be replacing Channel 5 News anchor Sian Williams, who recently announced she was leaving.
Just like Dan, she moved from BBC Breakfast, but back in 2016 – the same year he joined the BBC team.
On Monday, Dan wrote on Instagram: “Hello
Some personal news today…
“Big decision for me to leave @bbcbreakfast but I’m really excited to join @channel5_tv & @c5news.”
He continued: “It’s been a real privilege to work with some amazing people at Breakfast and I’ve had such a happy 6 years alongside @louiseminchin, & then @sallynugenttv, and the rest of the wonderful team.
“Thanks for all the lovely comments. See you back on the sofa tomorrow”.
