EASTENDERS fans have ripped into the ‘painful acting’ as a drunk Kathy causes chaos.
During last night’s episode viewers watched as Albie’s christening took place in Albert Square.
Kathy Beale had a bit too much to drink during Tuesday’s episode of EastEnders
The character had fans talking about her acting during the episode
The youngster, who is the child of Sharon Watts and Keanu Taylor had an eventful day.
His dad Keanu was arrested at the church after his van full of drugs was followed by police.
But despite that dramatic showdown, it was another Walford resident that had viewers talking.
Following the christening Albie’s family all headed to the Queen Vic to celebrate his big day.
Kathy Beale was enjoying herself – and the booze – as she knocked back the champagne.
So much so that Sonia commented on her drinking, before she snapped back: “Sonia, it’s meant to be a christening, not a wake.
“It was always a good excuse for a good old knees-up in my day and in my book it still is.”
Later on in the episode as Alfie Moon announced the pub was closing for the night, Kathy looked a bit worse for wear.
She looked visibly wasted as she slurred her words and treated Sonia, Zach, Martin and Sharon to a trip down memory lane.
She broke down in tears while reminiscing about Martin Fowler as a baby before he said: “Alright auntie Kath, let’s get you home shall well?”
EastEnders viewers at home couldn’t help but comment on the ‘painful’ drunk scenes as they slammed the acting.
One wrote: “Drunk Kathy is irritating AF. The acting is painful.”
A second said: “Oh great. It’s comedic drunk acting. Only slightly less contemptible than actors, trained in song and dance, doing song and dance routines in-character.”
“Haven’t watched EastEnders in years but seriously, drunk Ian’s mum.” said a third.
However, fans of the character praised Gillian Taylforth for the hilarious scenes – and called for more in the future.
One said: “Drunk Kathy is my fave Kathy.”
A second said: “Drunk Kathy absolutely made my night. Wonderful scenes tonight.”
A third commented: “I think we can all agree we want Kathy drunk every single episode.”
