Wednesdays sees The Repair Shop air at 8pm and DNA Family Secrets at 9pm

Since Masterchef has finished, a new series of The Repair Shop has started, which always proves to be an emotional watch.

Meanwhile over on BBC Two, a second series of DNA Family Secrets has also begun this month, with Stacey Dooley once again helping people discover missing relatives or other mysteries within their DNA.

It means that on Wednesdays, The Repair Shop airs at 8pm and DNA Family Secrets begins at 9pm, making an emotion-heavy two hours for fans of both programmes.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: “Tonight’s telly: The Repair Shop followed by DNA Family Secrets. I have basically been in tears for the last two hours.”

BEYOND REPAIR

The Repair Shop star Jay Blades' BBC series axed despite rave reviews

Another replied: “Thought it was only me. The red car on Repair Shop – still [crying emojis]. Then the ladies finding their sister……. should have gone to bed early.”

A third tweeted: “The BBC has destroyed me tonight … first with #therepairshop and now with #dnafamilysecrets.”

A fellow viewer added: “I don’t have the emotional capacity to deal with #therepairshop and #DNAFamilySecrets on the same night. Two brilliant shows but more tears than I can handle.”

Last night’s edition of The Repair Shop saw Bookbinder Chris Shaw presented with a Jewish prayer book that originally belonged to the owner’s Austrian grandparents.

It was kept by them throughout their time at Theresienstadt concentration camp in the Czech Republic.

Meanwhile on DNA Family Secrets, a 79-year-old woman who grew up in a Nazi concentration camp as a Jewish orphan longed to know more about her family, and whether any of her relatives escaped the Holocaust.

Stacey also met Maureen, who wanted to know if her father was actually an African American GI who fell in love with her mother during the Second World War.
