Beat The Chasers contestant breaks down in tears as she wins £50k by beating all five chasers for first time EVER

A LUCKY Beat The Chasers contestant broke down in tears this evening after she won £50,000 by beating all five Chasers for the first time ever.

Kat Glennie-Soares from Essex made show history with the feat – and couldn’t quite believe what had happened as the Chasers’ clock ran down.

Kat broke down in tears following her victory

The brunette beauty had chosen to face Paul Sinha, Anne Hegerty, Shaun Wallace, Jenny Ryan and Mark Labbett to secure a staggering £50,000 – with the quizzers offering her a 10-second time advantage.

But they ended up fumbling over some of their questions, and after it initially looked as though Kat was going to walk away empty handed, things took a turn.

Kat had 20 seconds on her clock to the Chasers’ 14, and when Mark and Jenny both answered questions incorrectly they ran out of time.

Gold confetti piled down from the studio as Kat put her hands to her mouth in pure disbelief having realised she’d won.

The Chasers fumbled two questions in a row

Kat couldn’t believe she’d won

All five Chasers cheered on her success, with Shaun even giving her a standing ovation as she left.

Meanwhile, host Bradley Walsh offered emotional Kat his hankie as she sobbed, telling her: “I’m so thrilled for you!”

Discussing her victory, ecstatic Kat has since revealed that she didn’t even realise she’d won at first.

She explained: “I didn’t look at the clocks. When it first started I was answering their questions in my head – I had to tell myself off to stop answering their questions.

The pretty brunette made Beat The Chasers history

“I knew something had happened at the end, but I couldn’t hear what was going on with the Chasers. In the end I had no idea. It was such a shock to me that I’d won. That’s why I was so emotional!”

Kat added: “I needed to win enough to pay for a wedding, so, I knew I was always going to go against at least four.

“When the offers came I thought I might as well go for it.

“You’re only going to be there once, aren’t you? It was almost an easier decision in that all of the time offers were the same.”

Viewers at home were thrilled by Kat’s success and flocked to Twitter to share their excitement at the win.

One wrote: “Aww well done Kat! Got me a bit emotional there.”

Another added: “Honestly wasn’t sure if she was going to do it, but so pleased she did. Well done Katherine!! Well done!”

It comes after fans launched a petition to get unlucky hopeful Rahim his £100,000 prize after he missed out on the jackpot by just a second in yesterday’s episode of Beat The Chasers.

Rahim looked sure to win as he had 20 seconds on his timer to the Chasers’ one – but he ended up fluffing four questions in a row – narrowly missing out on the huge sum.
