Beat The Chasers fans launch PETITION calling for justice after contestant Rahim is ‘robbed’ of £100,000

A BEAT The Chaser fan has launched a petition calling for justice for contestant Rahim after he was “robbed” of £100,000 in last night’s show.

The Peterborough man wanted to win a big cash prize to fund a trip to the Seychelles, and he came painfully close to doing just that.

Having been offered a huge £100,000 jackpot to take on all five Chasers, Rahim was in cruise control until he spectacularly fell apart in the home straight.

Even though Rahim’s loss was ultimately of his own doing, a disgruntled fan called Matt Jones set up a Change.org petition titled ‘Justice for Rahim’.

He wrote: “Rahim is a boy from Peterborough who has studied and worked hard for what he has.

“He recently went on beat the chasers and unfortunately he didn’t win the grand prize by beating the 5 chasers. We believe that with his amazing performance there’s no way he could’ve lost.”

Matt is hoping host Bradley Walsh can intervene to get Rahim some money.

He continued: “Rahul wishes to return to the Seychelles where he is originally from and can do this with the help of Bradley Walsh. Please consider signing to help out Rahim.”

So far only 12 people have signed it.

Viewers were furious last night when the “sure win” contestant narrowly missed out on his prize by just one second.

Bradley, as well as the Chasers, shared Rahim’s pain following the tense face-off – with impressed Bradley even saying the clever student could end up returning as one of the professional quizzers in the future.

The hopeful decided to take a risk as he took on all five Chasers so that he could try and secure the eye-watering jackpot.

He got off to a great start, speeding through his questions either by answering or passing before Bradley had even finished asking most of them.

As the round drew to an end, the Chasers had just one second on the clock while Rahim had 20 – but in an unbelievable turn, he went on to get three questions wrong and pass on another as the clock ran down.

The student casually shrugged and said “oh well” after missing out on the prize, but Bradley was clearly frustrated as he put his head on the desk, saying: “I can’t believe that, that was unbelievable.”

Chaser Paul Sinha praised: “I’ve not seen anyone do what you’ve done and that’s come on here and throw away questions after two seconds.

“Clearly his brain is unbelievably speedy, the ones you knew you knew just like that.”

Bradley agreed: “I think you were a brilliant player and one day, in the not so distant future – if you keep quizzing – you’ll be sitting up there.”

Viewers at home couldn’t wrap their heads around the narrow loss, and flocked to Twitter to share their gut-wrenching reaction.

One wrote: “one second ONE SECOND THAT WAS SO CLOSE IM SCREAMING”.

Another agreed: “Man had 20 seconds left when @ITVChase chasers had one second left……ONE SECOND!!! FFS PAL!!!”

A third echoed: “Cannot believe Rahim could have won £100,000 and the Chasers only had one second on the clock. Absolutely gutted for him. I was sure he’d win.”

One more tweeted: “Watching Rahim lose £100k with one second left tells me 2021 ain’t going to be any better…”

Earlier in the programme, fans were left shocked when Chaser Mark Labbett raged at Shaun Wallace for taking too long to answer a question in an awkward spat.
